Killala Town Centre First Plan
Killala is one of 26 towns in Ireland that have received funding to develop a plan under the Town Centre First Policy which aims to address the challenges facing towns in Ireland and provide supports for regeneration.
Killala’s Town Centre First plan will be a blueprint for future development which aims to make the town a more attractive place to live, work, visit and run a business.
Naturally, the views, ideas and knowledge of the local community, businesses, residents of Killala and its hinterland are fundamental in this process. Killala has already undertaken a Community Futures Plan and a recent consultation led by Penn University has identified a wealth of ideas, priorities and needs.
Mayo County Council is working with a team from LUC (Land Use Consultants) and the Killala Town Team to facilitate this plan on behalf of Killala.
Mayo County Council and LUC now warmly invite Killala community groups (including Killala Community Council, Business organisations, Sporting Groups, Tidy towns, Culture groups etc.) and individuals to informal workshops to explore:
- options and ideas that will inform the Killala TCF Plan
- build on discussions and ideas that have emerged from the recent consultation undertaken in the town
Location and Dates:
Killala Community Centre F26 C9K8
- Thursday 14th September 7pm to 8.30pm
- Friday 15th September 2.00pm to 3.30pm.
There will be further opportunities to contribute at later stages (by email, in person and online workshops) but all are welcome to participate in these initial conversations and to learn about the project.
