Well done to our Leaving Cert students who received their results today from the Department of Education and Skills Portal.
It has been a very trying year for you all and your families but you have gotten through.
I hope that your results are what you wished for and that you get the C.A.O. course that you hoped for next Friday.
I want to talk to you about two things which I will outline below;
GDPR and Teachers Access to your Results
I have been informed by MSL ETB that I am not allowed to let the teaching staff of the school see any students results without first getting your permission. This may seem counter intuitive to you as they were your teachers for the past two years.
In order for the teachers to be allowed to see the results, I need you or your parent/guardian to complete the form attached to this email that I have sent everyone.
Better still if you can come in and sign it yourself.
If you are unhappy with your results, you can submit an appeal.
There is no appeal fee.
The appeals process will open on 14 September at 9am and you will be able to access it via the Calculated Grades Student Portal. You have until 5pm on 16 September to submit an appeal. The Portal will explain how you should submit your appeal.
The appeal process will include three stages:
- Stage 1: Checks will be undertaken to ensure that the intended information was recorded correctly by the school and that the information was transferred correctly into the data collection system
- Stage 2: There will be also be a review to ensure that the data was correctly received and processed in the national standardisation process conducted by the department
- Stage 3: Students unhappy with the outcome of this process can seek a review by Independent Appeal Scrutineers
More information is available at the link above.
In the meantime, I would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete the letter attached to the email or to drop down to the school to complete it. Please remember to practise social distancing when around the school.
Once again, well done and enjoy your celebrations tonight.
